Monday, May 15 

- FFA Agri Science Club Meeting: 3:25 PM to 4:25 PM in Room 110

- Breakfast: bagel with cream cheese, assorted breakfast bar flavors, assorted muffins with cinnamon toast or string cheese, assorted cereal with cinnamon toast or string cheese, fresh fruit, 100% juice, and milk variety

- Lunch: cheese quesadilla, chicken patty on a bun, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, popcorn chicken salad, turkey and cheese sandwich, sweet corn, baby carrots, fresh apple, mixed fruit, fruit juice, bread and butter, and milk variety

- Breakfast: vanilla glazed donut, assorted breakfast bar flavors, assorted muffins with cinnamon toast or string cheese, assorted cereal with cinnamon toast or string cheese, fresh fruit, 100% juice, and milk variety

- Lunch: pizza loca, grilled cheese sandwich, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, Italian salad, ham and cheese sandwich, green beans, cherry tomatoes, fresh orange, diced peaches, bread and butter, and milk variety 

Wednesday, May 17 

- Attention all FALL PAWS participants:  There will be a PAWS 6 month follow up meeting on Wednesday, 5/17, after school in room 123 until 5:00 p.m.  The late bus will be available for you if needed, just be sure to sign up Wednesday morning if you intend to take the late bus at 4:30.

- Do you love dramatics and performing? Or do you fear public speaking? Either way, Speech Team is for you! Join us at our first meeting on Wednesday, May 17, from 3:25 PM to 3:45 PM, to learn what Speech Team is all about! Bring your best friend(s) too!  The meeting will be held in Mrs. Lovin's room (room 111). Speech Team is open to any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

- Catch-up club: 3:25-4:25 PM in Room 119

- Breakfast: cheese and bacon breakfast roll, assorted breakfast bar flavors, assorted muffins with cinnamon toast or string cheese, assorted cereal with cinnamon toast or string cheese, fresh fruit, 100% juice, and milk variety

- Lunch: chicken nuggets, hot dog on bun, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, ham chef salad, turkey and cheese wrap, mashed potatoes, celery sticks, fresh banana, diced pears, bread and butter, and milk variety 

Thursday, May 18 

- Attention ALL 2016-2017 PAWS participants:  There will be an end-of-the-year celebration for PAWS on Thursday, 5/18, after school in room 123 until 5:00 p.m.  The late bus will be available for you if needed, just be sure to sign up Wednesday morning if you intend to take the late bus at 4:30.

Friday, May 19 

- State Track Meet: gates open at 9:00 AM at the East Side Centre (East Peoria, IL)

- Breakfast: French toast sticks, assorted breakfast bar flavors, assorted muffins with cinnamon toast or string cheese, assorted cereal with cinnamon toast or string cheese, fresh fruit, 100% juice, and milk variety

- Lunch: chicken soft tacos, popcorn chicken, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, turkey chef salad, ham and cheese wrap, baked beans, tossed salad, pineapple tidbits, apple juice, bread and butter, and milk variety 

Saturday, May 20 

- State Track Meet: gates open at 7:00 AM at the East Side Centre (East Peoria, IL) 

Reminders:  

Parents: we just wanted to remind all of you about upcoming tryouts/practice dates for athletics for the 2017-2018 school year.  We will provide the actual times at a later date.  A current physical must be on file in order to attend tryouts.  Here are the sports and dates: 

7^th/8^th Girls Softball: Tryouts will be held on Monday, July 24^th and Tuesday, July 25^th.  Tryouts will be from 5:00-6:30 PM on Monday and Tuesday.  We will meet at the HS Fieldhouse.  Please bring tennis shoes, helmet, bat and glove.  We will have a team meeting on Wednesday, July 26^th at 3:30 to announce the players that made the team.  This meeting is for players only.  All players that made the team will stay for a team meeting, all others are free to leave after they hear the announcement.  Practices for the rest of the week will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Times will be announced at a later date.  Usually they will either be from 8-10am or 3:30-5:30pm.

7^th/8^th Boys Baseball: Baseball tryouts will be Monday, July 31^st, Tuesday, August 1^st, and Wednesday, August 2^nd from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM at the high school field.  Baseball players need to be there at min of 2 days, preferred all 3 days 

6th/7^th/8^th Cross Country: the first practice can be held on Tuesday, August 1 (NO TRYOUTS)

7^th/8^th Girls Basketball: 7^th and 8^th grade girls basketball tryouts are on 8/28/17 and 8/29/17 in the MSJH orange gym from 3:30-5:30 P.M.

7^th/8^th Boys Basketball: tryouts can begin on Monday, October 16, 2017.

6^th/7^th/8^th Wrestling: the first practice can be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 (NO TRYOUTS)

7^th/8^th Girls Volleyball: tryouts can begin on Monday, November 27, 2017.

6^th/7^th/8^th Boys and Girls Track and Field: the first practice can begin on Monday, February 26, 2018 (NO TRYOUTS).

7^th/8^th Cheerleading: May 3: 7^th/8^th Cheer Parent Meeting at 5:15 PM in the MSJH Band/Chorus Room.  May 8^th and 9^th: 7^th/8^th MSJH Cheer clinics before tryouts in the blue gym from 3:30-5:00 PM.  May 10^th: 7^th/8^th MSJH Cheer clinics before tryouts in the blue gym from 3:30-4:30 PM.  May 11^th: MSJH Cheer tryouts from 3:30-6:30 PM in the blue gym. 

From the office: 

The last day for MAYC is on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  

8^th grade Parents: your 8^th grade students will have an recognition assembly on May 25, 12:30 to 1:30. At 1:30 your students will be dismissed. Please discuss with your 8^th grade student if they will need to sign up for early bus transportation or whether you are picking them up. Only bus students will get transportation on May 25, the sign up list is in the JH office. 

ALL library books are due on FRIDAY, MAY 12.  Fines will result for books not turned in on time.  The fine rate is 5 cents per every school day overdue.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. McFarlane (amcfarlane@ms.k12.il.us). 

17/18 Registration is available for incoming 6^th, 7^th and 8^th grade students. Parents are asked to complete 17/18 JH Registration in Skywards Family Access. If you have difficulty getting into your Family Access account, please contact MSJH Registrar, Deborah Norris 217-586-8930 or dnorris@ms.k12.il.us. Registration for your Junior High Student is necessary for our completion of your student’s schedule that will be available prior to 17/18 school year beginning , 08/18/2017. Please share this information with any neighbor, friend or co-worker that does not currently use Family Access. The site will be made available to you by coming to the Junior High office May 1- August 16, 2017. Our JH office will be open M-F 7:30-12:30 during June, July and August. Documents can be dropped off ,faxed or scanned to the JH office, at dnorris@ms.k12.il.us or knevill@ms.k12.il.

- The FFA Agri Science club will meet in Room 110 from 3:25 PM to 4:25 PM on the following dates: 5/15. 

Students who need a pass to leave early for any reason should stop by the office after the 8:10 bell in the morning. In addition, students who need a pass to ride the bus home with another student should stop by the office in the morning or at lunch/recess.  Bus passes cannot be issued at the end of the day. 

Absences and appointments may be entered through Skyward Family Access under the attendance tab. 

Ibuprofen and Tylenol can be purchased in the office for $.50. 

- Parents may now enter an absence or appointment for their student by logging in to Skyward.  Once you are in Skyward, click on "attendance",  "enter absence request", "add request", then you can enter date, time and reason and hit "save".  This will notify the office of the absence or appointment. 

- MSJH will start Catch-Up Club on Tuesday, September 6^th.  Catch-Up Club is designed to offer time and help for students to get caught up on assignments, projects, etc.  We will now offer Catch-Up Club every Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday after school from 3:25-4:30 P.M.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, Catch-Up Club will be located in Room 119.  On Thursday, Catch-Up Club will be located in Room 106.  If a student wants to attend Catch-Up Club after school, they will need to sign up for Catch-Up Club in the main office before 12:00 noon each day they are interested in attending.  At 4:30 P.M., students that do not need a bus will be able to walk home or be picked up at school.  For students attending Catch-Up Club that need a bus, they will be escorted to a bus at 4:30 PM and the bus driver will bring that student home.  Students riding the Catch-Up Club bus home after school may not be home until 4:45-5:45 P.M. depending on the number of students riding on this bus each evening.
